Lekalo: drafting a sewing pattern from measurements in the browser

What Lekalo does

Drafting from measurements

Parametric drafting: points and lines are formulas of your measurements — bust, waist, back length. Change a measurement and the pattern redraws itself. Ready blocks: bodice, trousers, one-piece sleeve.

Pattern design

Dart transfer and closing, slash and spread as a fan or in parallel, draping, cutting a piece along a line, pockets and marks. Seam lengths are checked automatically, with easing and gathers.

Allowances, printing, marker

Seam and hem allowances, 1:1 printing on A4 with an assembly map, a marker on your fabric width with usage in metres. Export to DXF, DXF-AAMA/ASTM, SVG, PNG and PLT.

3D fitting on a dress form

A dress form built from your measurements, pieces sewn together automatically, 16 fabrics from batiste and chiffon to denim and jersey. A tension map shows where it pulls, and you can tug the cloth or blow on it.

Measurements and projects

Measurements for several people, your own library of drafts, saving to Google Drive and links to share a pattern.

Three languages

English, Ukrainian and Russian — the interface, measurements and formulas.

How it works

  1. Enter measurements — yours or a client’s.
  2. Take a block from the library — bodice, trousers or sleeve — or draft your own.
  3. Design the style: darts, flare, draping, allowances.
  4. Fit and print: check the fit on the dress form, print the pattern 1:1 and cut.

Questions

Is Lekalo really free?

Yes. Lekalo runs in the browser for free, with no sign-up and no limit on the number of projects.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Open the site in a browser on a computer. Your project is saved in the browser automatically and, if you like, on your Google Drive.

How do I print a pattern at full size?

Save the pieces as a 1:1 PDF on A4 or Letter sheets for a home printer. The first sheet has a 10 cm test square and the assembly map, and empty sheets are skipped. For a plotter there is a single-sheet PDF and PLT.

Can I open a pattern from another program?

Yes, by importing DXF. You can export to DXF, DXF-AAMA/ASTM for Gerber, Lectra, Optitex and CLO, and to SVG, PNG and PLT.

Can I try a garment on before cutting?

Yes. The dress form is fitted to your measurements, the pieces are sewn together automatically, and you can choose from 16 fabrics, from chiffon to denim. A tension map shows where the garment is tight.
